Meet Marysela, Our New Client Relationship Manager

We’d like to welcome Marysela Gonzalez to the Red Team family. On September 16, Marysela joined our team as Red Team’s new Client Relationship Manager. We asked Marysela a few questions to get to know her a little more.

Tell us a little bit about your position before joining Red Team.

Prior to joining Red Team, I was working with Macro Solutions in DC as their Contracts Manager. I handled all the day-to-day contract life cycle for all of their awards, and assisted with proposal compliance, pricing, and subcontracting efforts.

What was your first job in federal contracting?

My first job in federal contracting was actually for a municipal government agency. I was invited by the Mayor’s office to submit a proposal for a federal grant that would allow me to assist small businesses with procurement planning and support. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into but understood the challenges small business faced daily in the government contracting space. This really set the stage for my passion in government contracting.

What drew you to the Client Relationship Manager position at Red Team?

A few of the things that drew me to this position were the opportunity to collaborate as a part of an energizing team and the ability to interact with our clients and be part of their success strategy. This opportunity offered the perfect mix of BD support, Project Management, and Strategy Planning that simply called out my name!

What are you most looking forward to in your new position?

I am eager to get to know our team and also get to know the needs of each of our clients. In working with many small to midsize businesses in prior positions, nothing is as rewarding as helping your clients achieve their goals and reach new heights of success. I look forward to that in this new opportunity.

Have you always lived in the DC metro area? If not, what brought you to this area?

I am originally from the Southwest and have worked in Arizona and California. I have a huge sense of passion for the field of government contracting and this is where it all happens. My husband and I both agreed that this area made a lot of sense for both our professions.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love photography, kickboxing, wine tasting, and dancing salsa when I have adult time. On the weekends I love going out and exploring the outdoors with my kiddos. On most days, I am appreciative of a nice glass of sangria and an hour or two of quiet time with a good leadership book or maybe a little photo editing or photobook scrapping.

Now that autumn is just around the corner, what are you most looking forward to?

Autumn is my favorite season! I am so looking forward to everything pumpkin, fall colors, and of course boot and scarf fashion.

In the past five years, what’s the most important thing you have learned?

In the past five years I can truly say I have learned how resilient and fearless I truly am.

What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?

A perfect day would include an early start with some kickboxing at 5:30 am, a coffee and power breakfast to kick off the work day. Then to wrap it up, I would have to say dinner and a crazy evening at home with my kiddos and husband. Quiet moments rarely exist in our household with a family of 5.

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you…

1. My first language is Spanish, but I am fluent in both English and Spanish.
2. If I won the lottery I would adopt a handful of children.
3. I love photography and it is one of my hobbies.
